Overview: Allows medication to be ordered as PRN.
Location: Change Details popup window in Medication screen, under Orders.
Button: To make a medication a PRN medication, select the medication either by typing in the name in the Medication Name Search textbox or from your favorites list. Fill in the appropriate directions and then open up the Change Details popup window by clicking on the Details field. Then, in the upper right corner of the Change Details popup window, select PRN by clicking in the PRN checkbox. Then save the changes.
The prn box is not readily apparent to most providers when they are first introduced to orders management. If the prn box were more visible, the process would be smoother.
ReplyDeleteQuestion: Should all pain meds be automatically written with a prn and if the provider so chooses, then remove the prn. I would like to hear from others.
